A diagnosis of Alzheimer's or other dementia often feels like the end of the road, like a crisis, like a bomb has gone off in your life. But, with the right support, guidance, and connection, it is possible to live a life of joy and fulfillment while supporting a loved one in this journey. Ask anyone who has walked this path, and they will tell you the right support group is the key to living well with dementia. Our evening group meets virtually at 6 pm the second Thursday of each month and is open to the community. Please Join Us!
Aging Savvy support is of the highest caliber, utilizing evidence-based psychoeducational and peer support approaches. Our groups are inclusive, confidential, and sensitive to the vulnerable nature of caregiving, including the risk of depression. Support groups do not replace professional counseling or therapy. If you need that, we can help you find a clinician. Mary has extensive training in support group facilitation and practices under gerontology and social work ethics. She has facilitated support groups in Adult Day Health, Hospice, and Long-term Care settings and under the auspices of the Athens Community Council on Aging and The Alzheimer's Association.
